Too Close to the Edge?
I was looking through some pictures of my last trip to Zambia, and here I am just wandering around the edge of Victoria Falls with no one to yell, "You're too close to the edge!" Is that too close?
I remember we talked about this when you got back from that trip. A few more steps and you would have been too close!!! Hope you, Holly & William are doing well. Robert is back in the country but won't be through the outprocessing for a couple more weeks. I got to go to North Carolina to be there when they landed last week. It was a great experience! Suzanne
Doesn't look too close to the edge but danger is sometimes like that...beautiful but deceptive and very tempting to push to the limit. Problem is, you gamble one wrong step and there ain't no going back.
However, looking at that second picture makes me wonder if being apart of all that incredible beauty wouldn't make it worth the dive:)
Life is all about living on the edge! Experience as much as you can and hope you don't get hurt along the way! I would've gotten a little closer, but that's just me! :)
I just saw some other pictures of these falls and people relaxing in pools of water right at the edge. Too dangerous for me! One false step.....and???? Beautiful though! It made me think of all the times I have been too close to danger without even knowing it. Beauty can be deceiving.
I guess I put that picture up as a metaphor for life, and the many chances we take. If you look at the bridge over my left shoulder in the 1st picture - people actually bungee jump from that. We hiked to the bottom of the falls and I have some amazing video of someone taking the plunge. Scary stuff!
It is a very good metaphor to life. Too many times we let ourselves live on the edge not realizing how close we are to disaster. We are entranced by the beauty and power of where we are and forget that one false step will send us falling in to the waiting disaster below. I've seen many people make one wrong step and have no chance of recovery. I've seen others walk to the edge, look over and run for their lives! It is a very appropriate metaphor! Thanks for sharing. I would love to see the other pictures.
