This commercial caused me to buy my VR6 Jetta in 2001. The guy rushing to stop the woman he loves from marrying someone else struck a romantic cord in me. I especially love how she looks breathless in that last scene. Plus, I love the song - "One Million Miles Away." So, if anyone wants me to buy a car now, they're gonna have to do better than a slick-haired dude yelling in a redneck accent, "ZERO DOWN, $199 A MONTH, DRIVE OFF THE LOT NOW!!!"

I'm not too concerned about the car but love the romance:) Will she abandon the stability of the man that actually made it to the alter on time, loves her, has planned his future around her and most likely has his retirement in order or...follow her heart and escape with the man that completely takes her breath away, who lives life passionately on the edge, and acts on impluse risking all, to declare his love to her just in the nick of time?
I know - that's what makes this commercial a great story!!
Hmmm...interesting character analysis, Kerrie. How about this: she's marrying the man her father wants her to (since he was shown looking rather smug). I took it as she was relieved that the man she loved showed up in the nick of time.
Who's to say he isn't financially secure and all that...I mean, he does drive a V-DUB. Lord knows you gotta have a good job just to pay for the regularly scheduled maintenance of the thing! LOL. (but really, just ask Charles about that...)
All in all, it IS one of the most beautiful commercials I have ever seen.
If you think regularly scheduled maintenance is high on a Jetta, then you should own a Passat!
And don't you EVER dare let the battery go dead. There's only one place where you can buy a battery for those things, and it AIN'T AutoZone.
I've never owned a Volkswagon and I obviously don't know much about romance, but I have been to a wedding where someone had something to say at the "speak now or forever hold your peace" portion of the ceremony.

Wow! I never ask that question at weddings that I perform - I've been to a few where it could have happened!
yeah, and there's been a few wedding you SHOULD have asked that question....
but then again, bride's can be pretty frightening if you cross them on their special day.
